Configure a Static IP Address on Windows

Set a static IP address

A static IP is useful for servers, printers and port forwarding. Here's how to set one with PowerShell.

New-NetIPAddress -InterfaceAlias "Ethernet" -IPAddress 192.168.1.50 -PrefixLength 24 -DefaultGateway 192.168.1.1
Set-DnsClientServerAddress -InterfaceAlias "Ethernet" -ServerAddresses 1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8

Warning: Make sure the IP you choose is outside your router's DHCP range to avoid conflicts.
